Apeksha works with young children with an ease that is amazing to watch.  Children love to see her dance, move and smile and wait for her to begin grooving. Apeksha is one of our youngest teachers but works with a professionalism and maturity that is rare to find.

A wanderer at heart, Prerana has lived an unconventional life - be it farming in a village in Vietnam or doing cross country on a motorbike. Working hard to bridge the divide between the personal and political, she has come to Tamarind Tree as a "facilitator" working with students of all age groups in an interdisciplinary manner. She also coordinates the school's newsletter.

Crossing barriers of distance, culture, food and language, Kayla and Peter are a critical part of the Tamarind Tree community. As a student, Kayla visited Tamarind Tree and opted to come back to volunteer for a period of 6 months with her partner Peter in 2015. Believing that relationships must be cultivated over time,  they are both back to work and engage in meaningful interactions with the students. While Kayla is a full time teacher, Peter is an avid astronomer and has contributed to building a telescope for the school.
